چکیده

K-Amylases constitute a very diverse family of glycosyl hydrolases that cleave K1C4 linkages in amylose and related polymers. Recent structural and mutagenic studies of archeael, mammalian and bacterial K-amylases have resulted in a wealth of information on the catalytic mechanism and on the structural features of this enzyme class. Because of their high thermo-stability, the Bacillus K-amylases have found widespread use in industrial processes, and much attention has been devoted to optimising these enzymes for the very harsh conditions encountered there. Stability has been a major area of focus in this respect, and several remarkably stable bacterial K-amylases have been produced by bioengineering techniques. Protein engineering studies of pH-activity profiles and of substrate specificities have also been initiated, although without much success. In the coming years it is likely, however, that the focus of K-amylase engineering will shift from engineering stability to these new areas. ß 2000 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.

Bacterial and Archaeal α-Amylases: Diversity and Amelioration of the Desirable Characteristics for Industrial Applications

Industrial enzyme market has been projected to reach US$ 6.2 billion by 2020. Major reasons for continuous rise in the global sales of microbial enzymes are because of increase in the demand for consumer goods and biofuels. Among major industrial enzymes that find applications in baking, alcohol, detergent, and textile industries are α-amylases. These are produced by a variety of microbes, whic...

Evaluation of β-amylase Activity of Sweet Potato (Ipomoea batatas) Cultivated in Iran

Besides the high starch content, sweet potato contains endogenous amylases where the two Predominants are - and β-amylases. Sweet potato is thought to be a promising source of β -amylase since β -amylase is one of the major protein in the tubers. This investigation has focused on the properties of β amylase from white-flesh sweet potato that has been grown in Iran as a potential source for indu...

Comparative Study of Ki Etic Parameters of Bacterial a D Fu Gal Amylases

Bacterial amylase from Bacillus subtilis and fungal amylase from Aspergillus niger were potential source for industrial exploitation in the field of amylase production. Hence, this study on bacterial amylase and fungal amylase was done to compare the kinetic parameter of both the types of amylases. 30-60% ammonium sulfate precipitation has done which showed 90 % of purification of both the part...
